This workshop is designed to deepen a compositional practice and explore new ways of listening, seeing and sound making. Anchored in creating music for performance and movement, we will work our way through a sequence of études prompted by rhythm and pattern, texture and form, storytelling and improvisation. The workshop is a rehearsal space where we will think out loud and experiment with new techniques together.

– Residency and Music Ensemble
14 October – 19 November, 2022
Berlin, DE
A project by Anton Kats w/ Anja Jadryschnikova, Khaled Kurbeh, Jared Meier-Klodt, Hani Mojtahedy, Aiko Okamoto, and Ziggy Zeitgeist | Within the framework of Existing Otherwise | Anders Existieren 2021–22 at Galerie Wedding. Artistic Direction: Solvej Helweg Ovesen
»Grounded Outer Space People« is a nomadic artist residency/music ensemble investigating the relationship between transmigration and music. Operating in a temporary studio the group of artists inhabits the gallery space and expands the exhibition-like frame through ensemble rehearsals, concerts, presentations, performances, sound- and visual works, and workshops. Upscaled scores and drawings extend over the gallery walls setting forth the launch of »Vostok 7« vinyl, a radio play conceived as a reenactment of the spaceship that has yet to be built. Driven through the perceptual shift from the visual to the sonic, the project operates a mobile sound system, a radio station, and a listening space full of musical instruments and sonic devices.
